Day of caring

River Guardians,

This April, the River Guard participated in TWO clean-up events in the Boise area. Considering we are such a new group, it was amazing to see so many people want to take part in community efforts like that. Thank you again, and thank you so much to those that took part.

Here’s a little recap of what went on:

On April 11, we joined up with Idaho Rivers United, for their annual Spring Cleanup. Over two dozen River Guard members joined up with other caring locals, and we cleaned up a section of river close to Les Bois Park. Our group gathered up about 150 pounds of trash, and later that day we got together for an AC Boise watch party too!

Then, from April 19-25, at least ten of those same participants took part in a week-long event by Boise Nice, called Boise Plogs (“plogging” is a combination of running/walking while picking up trash). A few people got together to clean as a group a couple times, as well as some individual efforts all over the Boise area, and several more bags full of trash were cleaned up.

This was all amazing, and just consider that this is all just the beginning! If you missed these events, or if you want to do even more, the River Guard is sure to have more opportunities in the future. And don’t forget you can always get out there and help clean our community whenever you feel like it! We are the River Guard, and we take care of our home.

Stand firm. Strike True.
